he's a great director , his films vary from police/yakuza stories to comedy, drama and surreal films, i think it's actually a love him or hate him director, with a strong personal style (at least in his earlier films). I'm actually tripping in a lot of Japanese stuff lately, film, music, anime- great stuff !
